During the 2012 Monumenta event at the Grand Palais in Paris, Daniel Buren created “Excentrique(s), travail in situ” (“Eccentric, Work in situ”). Discussions with partners to the project such as Patrick Bouchain, architect; Marc Sanchez, commissioner; Alexandre Meyer, musician; Guy Lelong, critic and author, provide insights to the work. Through portraits of the people working on the installation and interviews with the public experiencing the event, this documentary film shows the hidden face of the exhibition and the very human dimension of this monumental undertaking. There is also footage of the different artistic events Daniel Buren proposed during the exhibition.

Ce documentaire rend compte de la dernière édition de la Monumenta au Grand Palais à Paris en 2012 consacrée à Daniel Buren. Des interviews des principaux interlocuteurs (Daniel Buren, artiste ; Patrick Bouchain, architecte ; Marc Sanchez, commissaire ; Alexandre Meyer, musicien ; Guy Lelong, critique et écrivain ; etc.) croisent les points de vues sur ce projet et nous éclairent sur les enjeux de cette œuvre. Le film s’attache à montrer la face cachée de l’exposition et la dimension humaine d’une telle entreprise à travers les portraits des personnes ayant participées au montage mais aussi sa pratique par le public et enfin le dialogue entre la proposition de Daniel Buren et les différents événements artistiques programmés pendant la durée de l’exposition.
