DVD 1: THE COLLECTION THAT DIDN’T EXIST
A film by Joachim Olender
(93 min. / 2014)

Herman Daled is an exceptional collector. His collection, acquired in 2011 by the MoMA in New York, includes principal works of the conceptual movement that emerged in the 60s. It features the most important collection of pieces by Marcel Broodthaers as well as historically important pieces by Daniel Buren, Niele Toroni, On Kawara, Dan Graham, Sol LeWitt and others. On a journey from Brussels to New York, the Belgian collector looks back on his past and that of an aesthetic movement that marked the second half of the twentieth century. The collection that didn’t exist won the Grand Prize at the International Festival of Films on Art in Montreal in 2016.

With Herman Daled, Daniel Buren, Jacques Charlier, Christophe Cherix (MOMA, NY), Nicole Daled-Verstraeten, Chris Dercon (Tate Modern, London) and Dirk Snauwaert (Wiels, Brussels).
