Pioneer of the hyperrealist movement that grew in the United States and Europe from 1969, Jean Olivier Hucleux produced an important series of life-size portraits of anonymous people, writers and artists. From 2005 to 2009, Virgile Novarina visited him frequently, camera in hand, in his house filled with works and curious objects. Hucleux spontaneously shared with him his passion for painting, his meeting with Vlaminck, the choice of his artist’s name, his dyslexia and his extraordinary gift. Through an intimate approach of the artist, this film reviews seventy years of creation, from his childhood drawings to his latest work in progress.

Pionnier du mouvement hyperréaliste qui s’est développé aux Etats-Unis et en Europe à partir de 1969, Jean Olivier Hucleux a exécuté une importante série de portraits d’anonymes, d’écrivains et d’artistes grandeur nature. De 2005 à 2009, Virgile Novarina lui a fréquemment rendu visite, caméra à la main, dans sa maison remplie d’œuvres et d’objets insolites. Hucleux lui révèle spontanément sa passion pour la peinture, sa rencontre avec Vlaminck, le choix de son nom d’artiste, sa dyslexie, son don hors du commun. Ce film parcourt dans l’intimité de l’artiste soixante-dix années de création, de ses dessins d’enfance à son dernier travail en cours.
